Mo’Nique, Mo’Nique, Mo’Nique.. she’s quite a character…

and amazing personality promoting self-acceptance.

Years ago when I was living in NYC, I worked at the Apollo Theater.

That’s a whole other story.. but it was one of the most interesting experiences
of my life.

Twice a year HBO came to the Apollo to tape all the show episodes for
“Showtime at the Apollo” with none other than beautiful and confident Mo’Nique!

She created some of the highest energy from the crowd through her wit, humor
and to the point attitude!

Gotta love her.

She is real.

She is Mo’Nique.

Fat rolls are seen on my body.
So what.

My ass is big.. .compared to what?
So what.

My legs are short, my stomach round…
So what.

I’m a blonde haired, blue eyed, fair skinned girl..
So what.

Everything is a matter of perspective.

In our culture today being ‘thin’ is the way to be.
One day that will change.

So what.

In other cultures, women with fat on their bodies are cherished.
So what.

Yeah, so what.

Who cares?

Is it that important to care whether someone loses or gains 10 pounds?

I’m 169pounds right now.
So what.

I feel incredibly sexy.

At 210 pounds I felt the same.

Sexiness and beauty comes from within.

It starts in your mind: you believe it, you will be it.

After you believe it, the confidence within will shine outside.

Maybe it’s time to get real with yourself and accept
and embrace your body you are in…

so you can truly once and
for all surrender to what is..

being happy in your own skin.

it’s no surprise Queen Latifah rose in popularity over the years..

Remember one of her first videos? She was demanding respect way back then…
and still does. She is a shining example of a beautiful Plus Size women to the fullest!

Plus-size model is a term internationally applied to a woman who is engaged primarily in modeling garments that are designed and marketed specifically for larger body sizes and types (see plus-size clothing).

These models are also increasingly engaging in work that is not strictly related to selling clothing, i.e. body acceptance imagery, lifestyle and advertising, beauty/cosmetic products, pharmaceuticals, shoes, etc. As such, plus-size models often do not wear garments designed and marketed as plus-size clothing. This is especially true of magazine editorials.

The requirements for plus-size models are no different from those of high-fashion models, excepting in larger overall bust-waist-hip measurements; they must have excellent skin, hair and teeth, and emote well to the camera. The type of work that plus-size models engage in is of comparable variety to that of their counterparts.

Advertising campaigns, magazine editorials, catwalk work, live-TV work and commercials, etc. comprise the variety of work available. Increasingly, plus-size models are also being employed by the media to stimulate debate on healthy self-esteem and body image, especially regarding struggles with eating disorders. Synonymous and interchangeable with plus-size model is ‘full-figured model’, ‘extended-sizes model’, ‘outsize model’ (predominant usage:UK).
