Unpleasant, negative, unfair, bad things happen to all of us as some or other point in our lives. At times like this, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, upset, distressed and ask that perennial question, “WHY ME?!!” The fact is, it’s not just you, it’s everyone at some or other point; fact is and to coin a phrase, “SHIT HAPPENS!”
It is what you choose to do with this unwanted negativity in your life that makes the difference. Do you proclaim yourself the victim and resign yourself to your fate with whining ill grace or do you choose not to (in the words of Dylan Thomas) “go gentle into that good night” and do you “rage, rage against the dying of the light”? I know that Father’s Day is still some days away (June 15 I believe), but for some reason I am missing papa terribly today. Now, more than 7 years after his passing away, I still think of him and miss him everyday; I still find that most men I have met don’t really measure up to him.
He was gentle, loving, very affectionate, very wise and knowledgeable, and had a rare facility to be able to explain things to me when I was a child and then equally as able to relate to me as a rebellious teen and later as an adult. Continue Reading…

In a place like India where the economy is so heavily dependent on the rains, sight, sound and smell of the first rain after a long hot, dry, arid, spell is an indescribably uplifting, blissful and joyful sound. Since our sensory experiences are visual, aural, tactile, and taste and smell related, each of our senses can elevate and enhance our mood.

Since Nancy so liked the idea of the Pangea Day Anthems and I did too, I decided to search for all of the national anthems that are sung by people of other nationalities, such as the national anthem of India being sung by the Kenyan people, which is so poignant and beautiful to me.
This first video is the one where Japan sings for Turkey. It is visually spectacular and sounds really interesting too:
Every Thursday night we have a creative “girls night” on our property . . .
* This night was awesome! We made “Tamales”… enough to serve an army! We stayed up until 11 hand rollin’ one tamales after another. Sure makes me appreciate those Tamales I’ve quickly checked out and eaten from Trader Joes!
So, the idea is each week ONE person is the teacher. We Continue Reading…
People will ask you, “What do you want to do with your life?”
That’s a pretty broad question if you ask me! What I’ve found is to break down the “your life” part of the question to “time in your day”. There are 24 hours in a day.
How are you spending each day of your life? Even each hour? Each minute?
Are you wasting time watching TV, letting each precious moment slip on by until you wait for that magical day to come when you’ll then start living your life?!
The time to live is right now.
What I like to ask myself is: “What is my ideal day?!”
Each moment of my day is what makes up my life.
* Wake Up, Breathe, Smile
* Ask My Higher Self, “How will I serve others today?”
* Take a Hot, Long Shower
* Beautify Myself
* Eat a Healthy Breakfast
* Exercise My Body
* Eat Small Meals and Drink Water Throughout the Day
* Get to Work to Serve Others: Writing, Creating, Implementing New Ideas, Designing, Communicating
* Give One Thing to Someone I Care About
* Connect With Family and Friends
* Rest … while dreaming up the life of my dream.

Someone recently sent me the link of a youtube video, in which Kenyans are singing the Indian National anthem. When I listened to it, it felt strange and wonderful, all at the same time to me. Although the people were singing familiar words and sounds, it sounded slightly strange to my ears which have heard and sung my national anthem literally hundreds of times, but it was also a truly moving experience.
This amazing and unique idea was initiated under the auspices of the Pangea Day celebrations which sought to promote the idea of universal harmony in completely new way. On May 10 2008 at a predetermined time, at six different locations all over the world, Continue Reading…
