Los Angeles – September 12, 2008: Designer denim company, Little in the Middle, finally brings their successful series of re(Define) (Real)ity™ Fashion Shows to Los Angeles Fashion Week.
More than just a fashion show, re(Define) (Real)ity™ is the movement of The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness with the goal to destroy society’s unrealistic view of what is considered “beautiful” and “real” and to embrace individuality by celebrating that Real Women and Real Beauty come in all different shapes and sizes.
The mission is to empower all women to embrace a positive body image. Produced by Black Card Events, this “purple” carpet event (purple, which symbolizes body image awareness and coincidentally happens to be a hot color this season) will take place Thursday evening, October 16th at Hollywood nightclub, Boulevard3 and will feature clothing from Little in the Middle as well as the debut of Christian Audigier’s new line, Paco Chicano.
True to the cause, the first ever re(Define) (Real)ity™ Award will be presented to Kathy Kaehler (Celebrity Fitness Trainer/Author/ ExerciseTV personality) for her significant contributions towards empowering women and fostering positive body image.
The evening will also include musical performances by Lauren Mayhew, Mandi Perkins, and Latin Reggaeton group Los Fenomenos, to name a few and feature a dance performance by choreographer, Saleemah E. Knight. A silent auction will also be conducted to benefit The Alliance and will include items such as a limited edition Ed Hardy Smart Car, fine jewelry and much more!
Little in the Middle’s new patented OneUp™ jeans are designed specifically for real women with curves. The OneUp™ sizing system features jeans with the waist one size smaller than the hips (hence “Little in the Middle”), ultimately eliminating the infamous gaping waist band and flattering the pear or hourglass figure. Little in the Middle’s revolutionary jean design will be showcased on REAL models ranging from sizes 2-18, who will be joined on the catwalk by Elite model, Whitney Thompson, the first plus-size model to win America’s Next Top Model and Latina actress, Maria Conchita Alonso.
Tickets to the re(Define) (Real)ity™ Fashion Show are available online at www.redefinereality.org for $20 or can be purchased at the door for $30. All of the evening’s proceeds will go to The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness, a non-profit organization dedicated to the outreach, education and prevention of various eating disorders, raising positive body image and fostering self-esteem.
