Sometimes in life, we see people’s perceptions of one another change before our very eyes.
So often we find ourselves making assumptions based on appearances that are later proven to be completely wrong.
The goal of my work as a plus-size model and in writing the book “You Can Be Sexy At Any Size or Age!” is to remind women that confidence comes from within. Despite the standards that we see as beautiful in the media, beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and ages. We make ourselves beautiful from the inside out.
The clip of Susan Boyle, a singer who recently appeared on the show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is a perfect example of someone who was perceived as a joke, homely and the proverbial “crazy cat lady” when she first walked out on stage. By the end of her performance, the audience had gone from snickering to giving a standing ovation and the judges gushed over how incredible she was.
They admittedly had written Susan Boyle off based on her looks and minutes later, were praising her and saying it was a privilege to hear her sing.
