There are so many things that affect our memory – age, menopause, stress, disease, and so on. With time there may be more changes that one notes – mood swings, a lack of self confidence, and a reticence about one’s one own abilities may creep into one’s behavior.

Consider how cool colors can help you calm down, warm colors can rejuvenate you enhance your mood, and neutral colors may not stimulate as much. Colors and their impact on a person can be subjective and so one should vary color combination as required
- Do exercise and do so regularly. It isn’t just that the activity will make you feel virtuous because you known that you’re doing something that is good for you (though there is that as well). Exercise is known to produce endorphins in the body which are the body’s naturally occurring happy hormone. Endorphins help combat stress and naturally elevate the mood.
- Exercise out of doors. More than one study has shown that where you work out is also important – the outdoors, with fresh air, natural green surroundings and so on can help elevate the mood even further.
- Take up a new hobby. This gives you a fresh interest in life, and throws up new challenges which help bolster your sense of self. Further if you take up a new class or similar group activity, you will end up meeting other like minded people; this will help you become more socially able. Meeting others socially and engaging in social activity can really help, particularly in those cases where one finds that one is withdrawing socially or prefers being alone.
- Do brain teasers, read, widen your horizons constantly. Doing mental exercise that challenges you is the best way to maintain brain agility. Crossword puzzles, Sudoku, brain teasers, and other puzzles keep your brain in fine working order because when it comes to the brain, if is very much a case of what you don’t use, you lose! A fitter brain will also help in boosting self confidence and belief in self and hence the mood.
- Sometimes supplements can also help to enhance your mood. There are many natural based mood enhances that can help to elevate the mood. Many such aids can help older people more than those in their 20′s or 30’s, so consider if a given mood enhancer is right for you and will help.
