  1. I would like to know if mailing photos/resumes in to the agencies is effective or is it better to go there for open calls. I have the start of a portfolio but with only a few photos. How many are needed for them to see my talent and diversity?

What is the best way to be noticed at an open call?

  2. I am interested in Modeling and have been told i have a beautiful body and physique. I’m wondering however if my hheight will be an issue since models are usually tall…I’m 5′5 to 5′6…Should i bother having my pictures taken and going for open calls or would just be wasting my time…

    Thank you

  5. Do you know of any plus size againcies in washington or generally anywhere that accept a 5′4″ woman wearing a size 11/12-14 jeans with an E bust size?

  6. Hi FeliciaMaria,

Having a few photos in your portfolio is good to begin with. Start to add more photos over time to expand.

If you go to an open call try to connect with the person in charge or set an appt. with an agent so you can talk direct rather than be at a “cattle call”.

    All the best,
    Nancy :)

  7. Sabatha,

I’m 5′6 and got plenty of plus size modeling gigs. You can also do commercial work where height isn’t as big of an issue.

  9. Iris,

I’m not aware of any agencies in Washington area. Like I was just telling Sabatha, with commerical print work you can be any size so that might be an option!

  10. My name is Dhylles and I am venturing out into the world of Modeling. I am considered to be a plus size model and would love to be a part of your organization. I really don’t have any modeling experience. I have alot of confidence, personality and I am a very open minded person who works well with anyone and would just love to be considered for any modeling events available to build up my resume.

  14. Hi. I’m in the NYC area, and was wondering what companies were interested in petite and curvy models. I feel so outcasted because I’m barely 5′0, but I’m not even plus-size. I’m anywhere from a 2 to a 4 in most clothing. My measurements are 35″26″35″. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  16. Where do you live Kenisha? I saw Lane Bryant model Sage Salzer speak a few months ago for this NBC interview about plus size modeling in New York. She said to go to “open calls” which are held at the agencies once a week. Each agency has a different day and time. Because if you are in a major city that should really help your chances because you’ll have more agencies to go to. I called a few and found out the days and times, but I still want to get more pictures taken before I go.
