A Thought Provoking Comment on “Is Thin Really Beautiful?”
Today, we received a thought provoking comment from a man named Thomas.
Are you reading this Blog? If so, we want to hear from you today. Read the comment below and let us know what YOU think.
“A late-comer here… The “thin is beautiful” misconception arises from the elite
league of homosexual fashion designers and presenters, whose collective agenda
appears to be to convince everyone that to be an attractive ‘woman’, you need the
body of a 13-year old boy. Why that would conjure ’sex object’ images and motives
in anyone’s mind is quite far beyond me.
It is up to US, the consumers, to appropriately and selectively support and endorse
the fashion industry. There are some great ‘plus-size’ works being accomplished,
but to make these mainstream requires OUR commitment to support them. They need to
stop calling it ‘plus-size’ too. The norm should be called ‘minus-size’.
I have always sought women with VERY prominent hips, along with a diminished waistline.
People should be aware that this is per human design; scientific findings indicate
that a woman’s ‘hormone profile’ is beneficially modulated by having sufficient fat,
YES, I SAID FAT, located in certain places about the hips and thighs; even so far as
REDUCING propensity for type II diabetes in later life.
Extreme belly fat is of course a different story. We should come back down to Earth and realize that our very health as a race of living beings may require us to do something different than
what a few gay men say about what women should look like.
My feeling that a woman needs to have some pounds is a throwback to some or another
ancient concept of human design having something to do with women being able to
carry and nurture a developing child within her abdomen, or something like that.
Plus, there’s no greater feeling (imho) than being ‘fully intimate’ with a woman
when you can feel the soft and full curves of her bare skin with your hands as you
revel in your closeness, and realize that you are sublimely privileged to have
yourself inside one of the most wonderful creations ever devised (yes, I’m a
heterosexual guy).
The most attractive women don’t look remotely like anything a man could ever be. Not this androgynous waif-thing that Hollywood continually shoves into our respective spheres of influence.”

Great points made by Thomas!
I agree and appreciate his honesty… it is great to hear a man be so open about being attracted to non-stick-thin women, and I am happy to say that he is not the first man I have heard say these things! My own husband, in fact, is one of those men who loves curves (lucky for me!).
Some of the societal double standards are hard to swallow, though, and I think we need to stay away from criticizing “skinny” girls while defending “plus size” girls. The whole concept of “Sexy at any Size” is open-minded general acceptance, right? If so, we need to remember that just as some of us are naturally thick, many women are naturally thin and they have just as hard of a time gaining weight as we do losing or maintaining our weight!
There is a lot to be said on the subject, but I think we should all remember that the “walking hangers” on modeling runways are not generally the ideal image of health and beauty, but those women deserve to be given as much respect as we are demanding for oursleves as plus-size women.
Interesting topic, as always, Nancy!
