Latest Poll Show 80% of Men Want Curvy Voluptuous Women, NOT Rail Thin Stick Models Like We Have Been Told

Why Thin is NOT inIn the wake of Madrid’s banning of models with a BMI of 18 or lower, the question has been raised again of whether fashion models are too thin. The fashion industry’s continued move towards thinner and thinner models has come under fire from several sources, mainly because of the influence it has had over young women and the rise of anorexia and bulimia.

In the last 20 years, fashion models have gone from a size 8 to a size 0 for runway models. Within the same time period, the average American woman has gone from a size 10 to a size 14. Yet, American women, according to an online poll, see the super thin stick models and feel they are unattractive and unhappy in their average or curvy bodies.

As governments are now getting involved in trying to reverse the skinny ideal, other agencies and spokespeople, like Nancy Hayssen, a former plus size model, are speaking out to women everywhere to recognize beauty in women no matter what their size.

Nancy’s website became the number one site on the internet for the term “sexy plus size model”. She has been inundated with responses from men and women all over the world praising her beauty as a plus size woman. With the constant message in the media that you can only be beautiful if you are skinny to the bone she became determined to prove otherwise. As Nancy puts it, “I’ve always been happy and proud of my voluptuous body. I wouldn’t choose to be rail thin if my life depended on it.”

There are over 8 million people in this country who are anorexic, bulimic or have eating disorders. Most of them are young women. “Young women look at these magazines showing super thin models and think they should be like them in order to be attractive. Yet contrary to popular belief that skinny is desirable, the recent poll ran show the truth that men like some meat on a woman!” says Nancy Hayssen author of “You Can Be Sexy at ANY Size!”.

According to this same recent online poll of men ages 18-51 and older, 80% of men are attracted to women that are curvy and voluptuous such as Jennifer Lopez, and an additional 15% are attracted to average bodies.

It didn’t shock her at all to learn the results from the poll that most men prefer average to curvy, large women. “Men love women that have some meat on their bones. I’ve always known this.”

Surprisingly, this leaves only 5% of men that actually find rail thin anorexic looking women like Nicole Ritchie and models we see on the runways as truly beautiful.

Even more shocking when asked the question: “Who is the sexiest woman ever?” the winning response was “my wife” beating out historic beauty Marilyn Monroe who made second place.

The average American woman is 5’4” and wears a size 14. This also happens to be roughly the size Marilyn Monroe, considered one of the most beautiful women celebrities of our time would have been today. Size 14 is considered plus size, therefore, the average American woman is plus size. This is good news for women everywhere since men are really attracted to average curvy women.

“We’re being lied to everyday. The fashion industry and Hollywood have spread the MYTH that men want skinny anorexic looking women. The truth is—it’s plus size or curvy women that are considered beautiful,” says Nancy. She now speaks out about the reality of what men really want through the internet and the radio letting the public know what the “real skinny” is.

The truth is you don’t have to be skinny to be beautiful… in fact it’s the exact opposite. Learn tips revealed from the just released book “101 Secrets to Be Sexy at ANY Size!” how you can look and feel sexy today no matter what size you are.

  1. Marilyn Monroe was -not- a size 14.

  2. Where are all of these men who are so open minded about size?! For the past three months, I have been resorting to on-line dating due to my heavy schedule and I cannot begin to express how many men just cut me off because of my size. I’m 5′6″ and weigh 165 lbs and wear a size 14/16. I’ve been told flat out I was fat by several men. I even had one guy who had the gall to write to me that the sexiest woman he dated was a size 8–alluding that this size 8 was the biggest woman he dated. I am about ready to throw in the towel. I’m growing real tired in being called fat.

  3. Though I am a full-figured woman, I must concede with Robert’s comment. Marilyn Monroe was not a size 14 by today’s standards - the sizes have been altered since then so that a size 14 in the 1950’s would be more like today’s size 8. Your website is being just as biased as the fashion industry by misrepresenting myths as true.

I understand it is meant to give woman like myself a self-esteem boost, but I must wonder how people will ever come to terms with who they are when lies and misrepresentations of truth abound (as well as mudslinging thinner people).

  4. Tess, Do give up. I happen to think thicker women are gorgeous. Your measurements are far from fat.

  5. People always try to make you feel so inadeqate for being thin, but in essence, it’s a double standard and very hyprocritical. Black men and others who love “thick women” tear thin women down but in the same breath complain that thick women do not get preferential treatment.

Also, I noticed that women a thick woman declares that she is beautiful and loves her curves, people cheer, it’s celebrated. But don’t let a thin woman say the same - she’s considered concieted and self-centered. Why can’t every woman feel sexy and celebrated without tearing the other down? I have my preference with men, but I don’t put other men down who doesn’t fit that mold.

  7. If you can be sexy at ANY size, why is it such a horrible, disgusting thing to be thin? Why are you conisdere a “bad example” if you are thin, but you’re “healthy and beautiful” if you’re 50 pounds overweight?

I am naturally a size 0, am I supposed to make myself gain weight because I make the poor average women feel fat? That’s the same as telling an average woman that she needs to lose weight to be beautiful.

Models should be ALL sizes, from 0 to whatever. The only reason people say models have to be either a size zero or average is because they need a reason to bitch about something, and if models were all sizes they wouldn’t be able to say “OMG all these thin women make girls anorexic!!” or “The media alwasy tells people to be thin if they want to be pretty, even though the phrase Real Women Have Curves is shoved down everyone’s throats everytime they open a magazine!”

Another thing I find irritating…why is it that if a man says he prefers big women, he is praised..but if he prefers thin women, he is shallow? Why do you care what he likes? If he likes thin women and you’re not thin..get over it and go find a man who DOES like your body instead of bitching about the ones who don’t. It doesn’t offend me when men say they like big women…that just means I’ll have to go after someone who likes MY body. Having a preferance is NOT evil…would he be considered shallow if big women were all over the magazines, movies, ect and he said he prefered them?

  8. I think that Erika is missing the bit about size-0 models on the runway being 6′0 tall. Probably much thinner than your natural size 0, because the truth is, being fashion-thin is not natural.
No one is trying to insult thin women, and the people being offended here seem to be confused about the term “thin”. If your rib cage isn’t showing, then by fashion’s standards, you are curvy, and you are the kind of woman that men prefer.
Also, by my own standards, any man willing to put numerical limits on what he considers beautiful is shallow- not because he has an opinion, but because he is being eaten up by what the media says and has an obvious disregard for what is natural and healthy.

  9. I think that this website is great. It gives plus sized women like me something to read. If you are small or thin, then congradulations! I hope that you love being that size and you should have no problems finding skinny jeans any wear. However, the world would be boring with just skinny women running around. That’s where us big girls come into play. I think we are sexy and beautiful. We are curvaceous and ample, there is more to grab. Men don’t run the risk of poking themshelves with a hipbone or rib. Plus have you ever seen the look on a big girls face when told that she is beautiful or sexy? Its the most amazing look ever! I personally think it makes that woman even more sexy. Oh, and to the women out there that think that men don’t like big girls, They are out there! I found one that loves me for me at any size. He never lets me feel like I am fat or ugly or not worth it. Keep up the good work Nancy!

  10. Great website….I am now a size 14/16 after having been a size 5, then 8 then 10 so I’ve been treated differently by men who prefer slim women over voluptuous….I tried online dating as well, and I have to tell you I went on four dates, all of which told me I would be perfect “if I was thinner”. I don’t think men prefer the unrealistic runway models, I think they just prefer average…and I think it’s a peer pressure thing too. Guys don’t want to be known as the nice guy with the fat chick. I know that is harsh to say, but it is my experience, in dating, and at work. The guys I work fawn all over the younger, slimmer girls, and they hardly notice me at all….except when they call me “ma’am”. I’m only 41. So I’m not convinced of the stats that men prefer fuller sized women….so off to the gym I go, for me, not for them.

  11. I am 21 and currently a plus sized model just starting out. I am 5 foot 2 and size 9 which according to me isn’t a plus size model but according to my agent I am. I’m curvy and at a weight I kind of like…lol could cut back on the Starbucks ;D . I’ve actually been journaling my progress and about body image and that sort of thing on my LJ. I know a lot about it since I’m currently a uni student in cultural and global studies. I’ve actually studied the ‘industry of cool’ and body image.

Funny story my guy friends blatently told this one girl she was a stick figure and that they love a little more meat on their girlfriends bones or else they’d and I quote “get their eye poked out”. Awww I was so proud of them. But that was a smidge mean too.
