Plus Sizes from Igigi

I wish Igigi retailed in India. I know that Nancy has modeled for Igigi and I frequently check out the site. Since it caters to “beautiful, voluptuous and confident women in sizes 12 to 32” I was especially interested to know about this little innovation featured on their site or should I say improvement which was the launch of video streaming.

I thought this was a really great idea because often times two dimensional images simply don’t give you an idea about a dress or outfit and about the way it actually fits. Even if the outfit is featured from several different angles, front, back side etc. it does not give you an idea of how it will look when you move in it. As one blog commentator put it, “It’s amazing how much additional information is available when you can see the fabric moving on and around the model. I wish every clothing site had something like this! I hope it’s the beginning of a new trend!” I could not agree more. There is nothing like motion to give you an idea about the kind of material the outfit is made from, the drape, the weight and the way the material falls.

What is also great is that these are unedited videos of real plus size women (we have seen how Photoshop can alter a person’s face and body to the point that it is rendered unrecognizable). Also the videos are available in a in a variety of sizes so that it is not just one body type that you see modeling the latest styles. And really I think Igigi has lovely clothes, they are feminine and sophisticated and include work-wear such as tailored jackets, pants, skirts, blouses as well as dresses.

Now normally, I would think that a bubble dress is not for me, but I saw the video of this bubble dress which gave me pause to think that maybe it could be for me after all! I like a lot of the stuff featured on their sale and clearance pages too. Like I said before, I wish these clothes retailed in India….
