Are you one of those people who view all things fat with suspicion and an absolute conviction that it must be bad for you? Well, banish that thought! There are many reasons that the human body absolutely needs a requisite amount of fats which can only come from eating healthy and eating well.

And while I am certainly not saying that you should have a fat-rich diet and get fat, having a healthy , balanced diet that puts a few curves on you, is actually a good thing, because it means that you look as nature meant you to, and it also means that you are healthy because you’re eating well.

Did you know that 60% of the brain is made up of fats, the lungs need fat not to collapse, the eyes, nerves, even the heart needs certain fats for its very functioning! Now since I am not an expert at all of this stuff, I thought I would put together a reading list, which gives you some comprehensive information about which fats are good for you and why:

This article talks about which are the fats that are good for you and which you must avoid completely because they are really bad for you and your heart. It is important to know about the difference between adipose tissue and fatty acids, which this article talks about. Which fat to include in our diet, how much and how, are other points addressed in this really excellent and comprehensive article.

This one is another good article that outlines the villains and good guys of the fat fraternity, and below that is a list of related reading that you may find both interesting and useful.

Goodfats.pamrotella.com is a great site with both information about fats and other health related issues and also some good vegetarian recipes. Definitely worth a look.

This one answers some very useful FAQs about how you can feel energized by eating right. This is important because it means that you are eating in a way that fuels your body rather than storing it needlessly in your body.

This article talks about how what we eat in converted into energy for our activities and sport, and it also imparts basic understanding of concepts such as aerobic and anaerobic metabolism.

I found all of this reading material to be great food for thought (pun intended), I hope you do too!
