Nancy and I met over the internet about some freelancing work that I as a writer was doing. We had corresponded quite regularly and got to know one another a bit.

Exchanging ideas and life philosophies came next and though half the world divided us in geographical terms (since I am an Indian and live in India); we found a lot of common ground between us!

I discovered that Nancy as a person has always been deeply into Eastern Philosophy and Spiritual Thoughts all her life.

Perhaps it was also Nancy’s 60’s generation hippie parents and unconventional upbringing has caused her to be inclined to Eastern spiritualism and perhaps it was because of this that Nancy, a model from the United States and a me, a freelance writer and mother of two living right around the world in a developing nation really seemed to hit it off!

We discovered that we shared a common philosophy in that we both passionately believed that women can be and are beautiful and sexy at any size and age! We are both women who are confident in our own skin and agree that women should be celebrated in all shapes, sizes and forms; that women should look like real women and not stick insects!nancy-hayssen-plus-size-model.jpg

It is perhaps this simple philosophy that brought us together in a way that Nancy was generous enough to invite me to be a guest writer on her own personal blog! I thought that was really incredibly bighearted of her to share her own personal space with me in this way.

I feel that perhaps I bring an Eastern perspective to Nancy’s blog, an alternative thought which reflects my Indian moorings and values while at the same time echoing a universality of thought, of humanity that is common to all people regardless of culture, tradition, race or creed.

If it seemed a little strange to people that an Indian, living thousands of miles away, who has never met Nancy is suddenly contributing to her blog, then this is the explanation for this.

I do believe that in spite of external trappings, people are essentially the same wherever you go, and perhaps this is reflected in an unlikely alliance on Nancy’s blog!
