How to Create Positive Self-Esteem

1) Positive Self Talk
Probably the most important thing you can ever do at any time is—talk POSITIVE to yourself. Most people have negative self talk running through their heads 24/7 and they don’t even realize it!

The best thing you can do is to catch yourself talking trash about yourself and STOP IT! Replace it with positive self talk as soon as possible and as often as possible.

2) Hang out with positive people.
Ask your friends and loved ones to help you by saying positive and approving things about you. The more often you hear positive things about yourself, the sooner you’ll believe them.

After all, it took years of hearing and telling yourself negative things before you believed them, so it may take a while before you believe the positive things, but keep it up! You’re worth it!

3) Move your body.
It sounds so simple, but moving your body can make you feel better. Go for a walk. Dance around your living room.

Get some exercise. By moving your body, you will lift your spirits and even relax some of the tension out of your body from whatever is stressing you. You’ll also feel good about yourself for doing some exercise!

4) Ask yourself—“How do I want others to think of me when they look at me?”
What kind of image are you projecting with the clothes you wear? Maybe you dress to be really comfortable or maybe you dress to be extremely stylish, but however you dress, ask yourself if your clothes are giving others the impression of you that you want them to have?

If not, figure out ways that you can change what you wear to better reflect how you want to be perceived. You will feel much better about your self image if your clothes image matches it!

5) We’ve all heard the phrase, “Fake it ‘til you make it.”
Well, it works. It works partly because the subconscious mind doesn’t’ recognize the word or concept of pretending. For the subconscious, everything is always “real.” So faking it ‘til you make it, makes it happen.

You will, in time and with practice, become used to acting in this new way and one day, it will simply be natural to you.

6) Breathe.
Yup, that’s it. Breathe. By taking some long, deep breaths, you will begin to calm your body and give it the much needed oxygen it craves.

Most of us breathe very shallowly much of the time and by simply breathing deeply, we feel better about everything. Life seems more relaxed and do-able when we take time to breathe deeply and allow our breaths to sooth us. So breathe!

7) Give what you want to get.
You want others to give you respect and appreciation? Give respect and appreciation to them. You want to be liked and supported?

Give it to others and notice how suddenly people seem to enjoy being around you and to give you positive feedback. Like attracts like. So give what you want to get and you might be surprised at how enjoyable it is to give when you get so much back!

These are just a few of the many ways you can boost your confidence and feel better about yourself. I aimed for easy ones that you could do everyday and I hope you found them useful.

Whatever you do and wherever you go, remember you’re the only you there is! You’re unique and precious, just as you are!
